Bio of Jody Green and Dr. Tim Green
I am a teacher on special assignment (TOSA) as an Academic Coach focusing in Educational Technology in sunny La Habra, California. My career began in Arlington Heights, IL, where I taught 3rd and 4th graders English as a Second Language in a self-contained classroom. After two years in the Chicagoland area, I relocated to California and began teaching 6th grade at a middle school.
In early 2012, my district decided to bring a 1:1 mobile device initiative to the middle school students and I was fortunate enough to get a cart of iPads in my classroom. I am passionate about technology and its effects on teaching and learning. I have always found ways to integrate technology into my classroom, but having the opportunity to pilot the 1:1 program was exciting and energizing! It was just what I had needed to reinvigorate my teaching. But even with this renewal of energy, when the Coaching job was posted, I knew I had to apply. I was lucky enough to be offered the position, and I left my classroom March of 2012. Since then, I’ve been busy, busy, busy creating and delivering professional development and helping teachers integrate technology into their classrooms.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University. And yes, I’m a huge IU Basketball fan! I earned a Master of Arts degree in Middle School Education from California State University, San Bernardino. I have a certificate in Gifted and Talented Education from California State University, Fullerton. I’m also a Certified Thinking Maps Trainer and a Google Apps for Education Certified Trainer. I’ve presented at various conferences such as ATE, CUE and ISTE. I’ve been published in Leading and Learning with Technology, and I’m currently co-authoring a book on how teachers can develop a personal learning network using social media and other digital tools. I’m an adjunct in the Department of Elementary and Bilingual Education at CSU Fullerton where I teach the occasional graduate level course in educational technology.
