Challenges of Finding the Right iPad or Google Play App

The challenge for many K-2 to teachers who have tablets in their classroom is finding the right app. Teachers get tired of playing apps and just want the ones that will work for them and are standards aligned.

Once you’ve found the right apps, you have to download them and get them onto the tablets. And sometimes kids can move the apps around depending on how you’re managing the devices. Either way, it can be a challenge. Once you have everything in place, there will be times when you want students to play certain apps based upon their needs and the standards that you’re trying to meet. Well, the Really Good Stuff Digital Learning Collection makes all of this simple for you.

As you can see in the unboxing video when you go into the collection, you can assign specific apps to specific students and the collection will give them access accordingly.

Select Apps by Standard

Inside the teacher web-based version of the Really Good Stuff Digital Learning Collection, you can search for apps by standard. You can assign apps to your entire classroom or just to the individual student that needs the app. You can also look at how each student is spending his or her time.

Apps are organized in seven categories of classroom content. These content areas are:

  1. Language Arts
  2. Math
  3. Critical Thinking
  4. Creativity
  5. Social Studies
  6. Science
  7. My Best Self (Social Emotional Learning)

Assign Apps by Class or Individual Student

I think the easiest thing about this tool is that everything is in one place. You can see the activity of each individual student. You can also see the activities of your class. You can search by standard to find just the right app. Simply put, you have pretty much granular control over more than 150 apps in the Really Good Stuff Digital Learning Collection.

Perhaps the best thing about it is that there’s only one app to download onto your student devices. You could literally have just this one app and it would give you more than 150 apps for your students. They each can have access to the whole collection or just the specific apps that you want them to have. Now that is awesome!

As a person who has managed an iPad lab, I find the thought of one app that contains many apps very attractive. Plus, simple control for the teacher is a huge time saver.

Personalized Game-Based Learning for the K-2 Classroom

I think the ability to personalize learning while also seeing what students do with it gives us some powerful insight. One criticism of iPads and Google Play Tablets is that, while they’re great teaching tools, it’s very difficult to manage the apps that students for using. Really Good Stuff gives you a lot of functionality and a simple, powerful interface.

What’s even better is that, as the Really Good Stuff Digital Learning Collection team creates new apps, they’ll add them to the version you already own. When you assign a new app to a student, there’s nothing to download — they just open up Really Good Stuff and it’s there. Simple!

Safety First

The Really Good Stuff Digital Learning Collection has been certified by kidSAFE for adhering to strict standards of online safety and privacy compliance.

I hope you’ll take the unboxing tour video that I’ve shared as part of this blog post. I think this is going to be a very useful tool in the K to 2nd grade classroom.
